The City of Prince George is attempting to formally designate Birdsong Park as a green space.

Regarding Birdsong Park’s future, a public meeting has been set for later today. 2021 Foothills Boulevard is a piece of land that the city wants to be designated as parkland.

The 46.8-acre piece of land known as Birdsong Park is located just west of Nechako Riverside Park along the Nechako River.

On Monday, August 28, at 7 p.m., a public hearing will be held in the council chambers.

Numerous hiking routes lead to the Birdsong Park region, which is reachable from Nechako Riverside Park by a trail that runs below the bridge.

Members of the North Nechako Residents Group met before the city council in October 2022 to ask that the area be formally recognized as a park.

Residents will have the chance to speak at the public hearing or submit written comments before or during the hearing.

On Wednesday, August 23, a report to the city council and supplementary application papers will be posted online as part of the agenda package for the council meeting.
