The Bob Scott Award goes to someone or a group who shows honesty, leadership, and inspires positive change in Prince George.
Active Support Against Poverty is a group that helps the most vulnerable people in Prince George. They got the Bob Scott Award from the Drug Awareness Recovery Team (DART) at a special dinner.
Kim DeMeyer, who leads Active Support Against Poverty, said, “It’s a big honor to be nominated for the Bob Scott Award. Mr. Scott’s dedication to helping our community’s most vulnerable members is inspiring to those who want to make a positive impact. DART, which has been helping our community for over 25 years, recognized us, and that’s a great honor.”
The Bob Scott Award is given every year to a person, business, group, or agency that shows honesty, and leadership, and inspires positive change in Prince George.
Active Support Against Poverty was created in the late 1980s to stand up for people on welfare and others who struggle financially. They have expanded over the years to help homeless and at-risk people in many ways.
In 2022, they joined forces with the Canadian Mental Health Association to provide housing and support for people with mental health issues.
