The St. Louis Cardinals have added 28-year-old Prince George native, Jared Young, to their team. He used to play for the Chicago Cubs for six seasons.
In his 16 games with the Cubs last season, Young had a batting average of .186. He hit two home runs, three triples, and eight runs batted in.
Young is both an infielder and outfielder, and he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2017 from Old Dominion University in Virginia. In six minor league seasons, he had a .269 batting average, hitting 538 times out of 2,007 at-bats, including 69 home runs, 98 doubles, and 15 triples, with a total of 319 runs batted in.
In 2023, he played 310 at-bats with the triple-A Iowa Cubs and had a .310 batting average. He hit 21 home runs, 72 RBI, stole seven bases, and had a .994 OPS (on-base plus slugging average).The St. Louis Cardinals hold their spring training in Jupiter, Florida.
