“Crime Prevention Week is an opportunity for the public throughout British Columbia to honor the importance of crime prevention and to take part in and raise consciousness about community safety programs and creativeness.

“During Crime Prevention Week, we know and celebrate exceptional contributions of people and organizations across British Columbia that are dedicated to proceeding community security and prevention of crime.

“Our government knows the overwhelming impacts that crime, violence, and persecution have on persons and communities. We are working on all fronts to make our areas safer with initiatives such as Surrey Wrap, the Civil Forfeiture Grant Program, Situation Tables, the Gang Intervention and Exiting Program, and the Firearm Violence Prevention Act.

“There is still work to do, and committed community leaders will continue to be our allies, supporting local initiatives in community security, victim services, and monitoring.

“After this week, at the Awards ceremony of Community Safety and Crime Prevention, we will honor the accomplishments of dedicated individuals, programs, and organizations that are endorsing the crime prevention program, fostering healing justice, and protecting our most marginalized citizen’s day in, day out.
